Red Roses v France at the club

Saturday 20 September 2025
14:30 - 18:30
Owain Jenkins

The Red Roses face France in the Women’s Rugby World Cup semi-final on Saturday 20 September at Bristol’s Ashton Gate Stadium. But if you cant make it to Bristol join us at the club from 14:30 where the kitchen ~& bar will be open and the game on Big screen.

Having beaten Scotland 40-8 in the quarter-finals, the Red Roses will now face Les Bleues for a place in the final.

It has been just over a month since the two sides faced each other in a Rugby World Cup warm-up match in Mont-de-Marsan.

John Mitchell’s side overwhelmed France with a 40-6 win and have continued that dominant form going into the World Cup.

England are unbeaten at the tournament, having scored 248 points across their four games and have conceded just 25 points in that time.

Their win over Scotland was their 31st in a row and saw them beat their own world record for number of consecutive wins in international rugby union.

England's winning run against France is also impressive and currently stands at 16 matches, with their last defeat coming in 2018.

Although their most recent match saw a dominant scoreline for the Red Roses, fixtures between the two sides are often close affairs.

he 2025 Guinness Women’s Six Nations encounter between the two was decided by just one point, while their 2021 World Cup fixture finished 7-13 to England.

Opponents France edged past Ireland in their own quarter-final, defeating their Six Nations opponents 18-13 thanks to a second-half comeback.

Les Bleues also topped their pool, but may be without co-captain Manaé Felleu and Axelle Berthoumieu, who were cited following the quarter-final win.
