On Sunday our brilliant Burgess Hill RFC Girls U10s headed to Hove for a round-robin tournament against strong opposition from across Sussex, and what a day it was!
With Evie, Bella, Olivia, Freya and Lana proudly representing Burgess Hill, we were delighted to be joined by three fantastic players from Worthing to form a combined squad of eight. One team. One mission.
The girls travelled in style on the “Team Bus”, generously supported by Burgess Hill Girls. Thank you
The weather? Cold winds and relentless rain turned the pitches into mud baths.
The rugby? Absolutely on fire.
Through it all, the girls played their exciting brand of rugby:
They showed grit, resilience and real rugby intelligence. The weather didn’t faze them one bit, and even the parents on the sidelines started to feel warm watching the effort on display!
Between matches there was laughter, singing, mud slides and even some impromptu Irish dancing
The team spirit was something special.
For many, this was their first experience of girls-only rugby, and they absolutely rose to the occasion. We couldn’t be prouder. Their confidence, teamwork and determination show they are more than ready to step up to U12s next season.
(We’re slightly less ready for the noisy bus journeys that come with it… but we’ll manage! )
A huge thank you to all the coaches, organisers, drivers, supporters and volunteers who made the day possible. Grassroots rugby runs on your dedication.
Our U10 girls showed exactly what BHRFC is about: passion, commitment and playing for each other.
The future is bright.
