
Following the success of a nutrition workshop run for the Girls section, we invited Katie Allen back to run 2 sessions for our junior boys teams.
The second session was this week with U15 and U16 players learning the dos and don’ts of fuelling effectively for rugby. The boys learnt about the best foods to eat before matches and training, and how to support their bodies through nutrition after a match. They also learnt about the importance of staying hydrated and the best way to do that.
Key take away were:
- Drink more water
- check the colour of your urine!
- Steer clear of the caffeinated energy drinks
The boys were excellent ambassadors for the club- asking some great questions and sharing what works for them.
Useful takeaways preparing for a match:
Before - carbohydrates are you friend
During - jelly beans are great for an energy boost
After - Chocolate milk is a great recovery drink!
