U12 boys finish first season of league rugby in style

Beth Leeming10 Mar - 10:56

Burgess Hill U12s hosted Crowborough in their final league game of the season.

With 20 boys available including 2 debutants the squad was looking solid.

Back in at Poveys Close the boys were looking forward to playing on actual grass again.

Captained by Mack Machin the boys came out of the blocks from the off and scored 2 quick tries through centre Charlie Spurling and fly half Henry Mallet. Crowborough responded using their powerful pack to get one for themselves.

Mack was next on the score sheet diving over the line following some great carries by Harrison, Jay and Jack. Luke Harrison marshalled his pack well and was passing well from the base of the rucks. Charlie was next on the score sheet bagging himself a second after a powerful run down the wing.

Sam Hallifax showed his dancing feet for the final try of the half before crashing over the line.

Hill rang the changes at half time bringing on debutants Archie Turner and Ludo Musik. Both slotted into the team carrying well and felling large Crowborough players in the tackle.

Within a minute of KO Charlie bagged his hatrick ripping the ball off a Crowborough player and splashing down.

Crowborough then came back hard and dominated the next 10 minutes as conditions worsened and they used their powerful pack well scoring 2 tries.

A scrum on the half way line to Hill saw a blindside break by Sam who flew up the wing scoring in the corner.

Crowborough bagged the final try of the game. The final score was 40-20 to Burgess Hill, 8 trys to 4.

Man of the Match went to second row Sammy Langley who put in a shift. Notable other mentions must go to Harrison, Oakley, Connor and Tom Myles who all had great games.
