As our U7 team took on the challenge of their first festival experience the one rule of the day was to have fun, and they definitely achieved that!
Most players in the team are relatively new to rugby but this doesn't stop them being eager to get stuck in and do their best. From the first match until the last the BHRFC U7s showed true spirit and looked like they had been playing for years. They took everything in their stride and made it look like a walk in the park (but with tag belts, tags and rugby balls!)
Their coach Steve Skelhorn said:
'As a new coach I was full of nervous energy - this was my first festival experience too!
I just hoped they'd all enjoy it and have fun. Imagine my pride when every referee commented on how patient and polite our players are, and said they showed true sportsmanship towards other teams, coaches and officials.
I could not be prouder of the team they are becoming and I look forward to future festivals with them!'
This team exemplifies the values of rugby:
Teamwork
Respect
Enjoyment
Discipline
Sportsmanship
