Saturday is a rugby day!
Week 2 of the season sees us host our 2nd and final pre season game to Lewes RFC.
Lewes are a club who had a great season last year after rebuilding and they are the only team in Sussex unbeaten in 2024.
They will play their league rugby in the league above Burgess Hill and as such we have another challenge in front of us today.
Last week's game Vs Seaford was an epic gladiatorial battle. Tied at 21-21 with 10 minutes to go, Seaford scored two converted tries using the boot of their 23 stone 6ft 5 outside half to open up our steeley defence. Despite the loss to higher league opposition we gained so much from the game. The drinks flowed in the bar and at our sponsor the Top House after!
Pre season is all about getting game time for your squad which based on the last 5 seasons needs to be around 40-50 players.
We have a squad of 22 today with 12 changes from last week. We are looking forward to testing out combinations and players trying out 2nd and 3rd positions for the long season ahead.
Through a combination of drills, run throughs and video analysis Tutts has prepared our warriors well for the task in hand this week.
The men in black like nothing more than a rocking veranda and sideline so we hope to see supporters down at the game enjoying a libation or two.
Remember, we don't play for the number on the back, we play for the badge on your left breast.
Come on you BLACKS!
