With the Women’s Rugby World Cup coming to the UK this summer and matches taking place nearby at the AMEX Stadium in Brighton, excitement is building for girl’s rugby in Sussex. Sunday saw a group of passionate young players from Burgess Hill Girls get the chance of a lifetime: to train alongside England rugby stars Zoe Harrison and Tatyana Heard.
The inspiring training session brought together girls rugby players from across Sussex, all eager to develop their skills and learn from some of the best in the game. Hosted at Hove Rugby Club, the girls took part in a series of high-energy drills and fun match play, all under the watchful eyes of the England internationals.
After the on-pitch action, the players sat down for a Q&A with Zoe and Tatyana, who shared insights into life as a professional rugby player and what it means to represent England on the world stage. Their stories and advice were a powerful motivation for our young female athletes, many of whom dream of following in their footsteps.
The morning ended with a photo and autograph session, giving the girls the chance to meet their heroes up close, a moment many will never forget. It was a truly memorable day that left our Burgess Hill Girls rugby team more inspired than ever.
With the Women’s Rugby World Cup just 68 days away, and England’s opening match against the USA scheduled for August 22nd, the excitement is growing fast. Events like this play a vital role in promoting girls rugby and encouraging more young women to get involved in the sport.
A huge thank you to everyone who made the day possible. It was an unforgettable experience and a big step forward for the future of girls rugby at Burgess Hill.
