Burgess Hill U15s away win at Uckfield

Burgess Hill U15s away win at Uckfield

Beth Leeming1 Mar - 18:38

The Burgess Hill U15s played on grass for the first time in 2026 - putting in a brilliant performance away at Uckfield

After the recent weather meaning we’ve not seen grass this year, Burgess Hill were excited to finally get some game time in the mud.
From the off Burgess hill looked sharp, the sticky mud meant it was a forward dominated game but that didn’t stop our backs from exposing space on the wings and delivering some great tackles to help defend Uckfield’s attacks whenever it was needed.
The first try was from Tommy taking advantage of a Uckfield knock on early on in the game. Converted with the wind against him to bring us to 0-7.
The remainder of the first half was a strong battle to keep possession of a very slippery ball. A series of dominating Burgess Hill scrums keeping the pressure on Uckfield.
A brilliant defensive performance from Hill on their own try line holding back Uckfields attack, an unfortunate penalty to Uckfield really put the pressure on but Hill held strong and turned over the ball denying Uckfield a try.

Second half started with great scrum from Hill ending with a pick and go from Patrick, fast footed through the Uckfield defence and TRY!
Converted by Tommy for another 7points
0-14
Not even the sticky mud could slow Archie’s pace and footwork landing him a TRY! out wide.
Tommys kick was great but just fell short of the posts.
Two more for Patrick and another beautiful pick and go for his Hattrick right under the posts setting up Tommy for another tidy kick.
After several scrums the boys were getting tired but stood strong, an Uckfield attack was looking like they might get something but the defence held strong, Will C collecting a loose ball from our 22 and making a breakaway run outrunning Uckfield players and stepping their fullback to land himself his first TRY!
Another great kick from Tommy bringing the score to 0-40.

A solid performance from everyone on the pitch.
All their hard work in training really came together today, a very well deserved win
