A huge Chobham contingent were welcomed by a buoyant and excited Burgess Hill Club on Sunday.
Three age groups being forced to operate on just the one pitch made for a cosy session, but all ran rather smoothly.

Chobham, impressively had 3 teams to represent the under-11’s. Burgess Hill had 2 teams, which similarly, was an excellent turn-out.
The pitch may have resembled a cross between a bog and a swimming pool, but what kid doesn’t like diving in the mud? Playing ‘liquid-rugby’ was always going to be a challenge, and even Mario’s plumbing couldn’t fix the amount of water, but there were some great passages of play; Some fast passing, and good line speed made for great tries from both teams.

Chobham showed good awareness and player positioning to really exploit the spaces. Burgess Hill weren’t to be outdone, though, showing some determined and powerful runs right through the Chobham pack.

A mention has to go out to the exemplary conduct shown by all from Chobham. It was a pleasure to host you. The kind words exchanged from the players, coaches and parents showed how rugby can bring people together, despite the challenges presented. And a big thank you to the Burgess Hill parents who all mucked-in to ensure the kids got to play. Now to get the kit clean for our next session!
