Welcome to Burgess Hill RFC Under 6 page. The team are looking forward to welcoming anyone who is interested in Reception or year one at school who is looking to play rugby and experience the fun of being part of Burgess Hill RFC.

All new players, are welcome and no previous experience expected, let alone needed.

We train on Sundays 9am -10am

Some Key Facts about Under 6 rugby:

• Girls and boys play together in the same teams on the same pitches. This continues until they start the Under 12 season.
• There is no tackling - a tag belt and tags are used in the sessions. Tackling doesn't come in to the game until they start the Under 9 season.

The main focus at Under 6 age group is to develop an enjoyment of rugby. As part of that enjoyment our focus is on exercise, development of some basic skills, understanding basic principles of the game and principles of teamwork and being part of a team.

The team will be coached by Stephen Leeming (Jez) and Dan Maughn who look forward to making sure that the Under 6 age group have lots of fun and develop an enjoyment for rugby! Jez and Dan have necessary RFU training and DBS checks - and both are looking to further develop their coaching qualifications.

Both Jez and Dan have children in the Under 6 team as well as this years Under 8s, with Jez having previously worked with last years under 7s team.

Jez and Dan have previously played rugby and are passionate about giving their and other peoples children the opportunity to experience a sport that they love.
